you can probably just soak and clean the head instead of replacing it.

Changing the shower head once a year feels a bit like overkill. What about soaking, cleaning and/or sanitizing periodically as an option?

should we also replacing the piping yearly? Once they grow in the showerhead, you can be sure they also grow in the rest of your system…
