A lot of high schoolers are using this new social networking site called Prom Date Depot to find random prom dates at different schools. They don't know these people and are probably having sex and getting drunk with a lot different people.

I have always found social networking sites as a means to be in touch with my friends and loved ones.It also a good way to find mates or singles who really want to engage with someone
Now these issues sure have their advantage and disadvantages..Recently i became a testmember on one of the biggest future social networking sites of europe. It has some cool features like internet television,Webcam chat room,Webcam recording...The site is http://singleling.ch .Sites like these give each user an opportunity to find a soulmate and even find someone whose views matches with yours

Well at laest they are using ther internet to share their thoughts with like minded people and it does not appear to mention that this form of internet interaction can cause cluster and copycay suicides, we know this is unlikely as cluster suicides are the result of a contagion called Bioenfestation of mind jacking. Maybe this could be talked about by youngsters on the net as it would save lives that is for sure. We have seen too many youngsters end their lives so it is good they have somewhere to openly chat to others

I agree with just how important this might be. Obviously they're exposing themselves to having questionable information on the internet, but as a teen myself, this kind of forum is the only place this discussion goes on.

There's a sense of accountability in it, and an outlet for the need to discuss things you're not sure of yourself.

Perhaps adults should spend more times allowing teens to be honest with each other as opposed to using that discourse against them.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it would seem to me that having these teens openly discussing this stuff is good. It means that these kids have a real desire to learn about what is going on out there. It seems a lot of youth these days don't believe the hype that is out there and are searching for answers to their questions. Schools are failing youth by teaching abstinence-only education. It leaves a huge void that has to be filled somehow; obviously abstinence is not for everyone, and without an alternative, they are going to rely upon TV, movies, and (worst of all) the Internet.

Instead of looking at this as a bad thing, look at it as an opportunity to help educate these kids looking for answers. I'm glad the physicians supplied medical information rather than just telling the kids to hide what they are doing.

Parents need to wake up and realize that just because they don't see or notice certain behaviors in their children doesn't mean it's not happening. Parents should have MySpace pages, too, and use it as a place to educate (but not preach). It's a different forum for "the talk". Maybe the kids will hear it better that way.
